In a bowl or matcha tea bowl, add warm water and matcha powder. Whisk until no lumps are left (about 15-20 seconds). The mixture should look slightly frothy. Set aside.
Add ice, milk of choice and peppermint simple syrup into a glass.
Pour the matcha mixture into the milk and stir.
Peppermint Cold Foam
Add milk and peppermint simple syrup to a glass. Use a handheld whisk to aerate the mixture (30-45 seconds). If using a frothing machine, add ingredients and choose firm foam.
Add foam on top of the drink with optional candy cane or crushed candy cane. Serve right away.
Adjust flavor amounts depending on your taste buds. More matcha powder = stronger matcha taste. You can also adjust peppermint simple syrup based on sweetness preference.
Cold foam can be made using different techniques. Use a whisk to aerate the foam, a handheld frother, or an electricmilk frother and steamer machine. Skim milk and unsweetened soy milk will give you the sturdiest foam due to a higher amount of protein but you can use whatever milk you prefer.
Serve right away to enjoy the best flavor! Matcha powder will settle at the bottom of the glass. Just give it a quick stir and enjoy.
