Movie Ambience Ideas
Once in awhile it’s fun to make a movie night special by adding a few extra touches. This can be done with mood lighting, a yummy meal or your favorite snacks, or even matching pajama set and a warm throw. If you make the mood more cozy, it creates a relaxing atmospshere that really lets you sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Use one or more of the ideas below to set up for a date night, girls night, family night, or a self-care evening!
- Lighting can make the ambience peaceful and welcoming. Try turning off all of the lights or put up warm white copper string lights to keep the mood relaxed. You could also light candles! Candle scents can make the room smell nice, and if you like pine, try my all time favorite pine candle. It seriously smells like you’re in a pine forest (could help you immerse). If you’re not big on fragrance, try lighting an unscented candle or a beeswax candle to get the same calming vibe.
- Make popcorn! Pour it into this adorable popcorn bowl! If you want to make it festive, try holiday crunch popcorn. Pop popcorn on the stove or microwave butter free popcorn. Add 1/3 cup melted white chocolate, 1/3 cup M&Ms chocolate candies, and sprinkles or 1/3 cup marshmallows. Then mix everything together, spread everything on a baking sheet to dry, and enjoy!
- Wear some cozy pajamas to help you get comfortable and feel festive! These holidays pajamas from the GAP are so cute and soft! If you want something really soft and luxurious, try these pajamas from Lake. I gifted myself a pair of these and it makes my bedtime routine extra luxurious.
- Cuddle up under a soft throw blanket! This trendy bubble blanket is so soft and a great price point! These throws also make great gifts. It’s one of those things that you wish you had when you sit down on the couch. Make sure that you also have lots of cozy pillows!
- Wear your favorite pair of holiday slippers. We’re sticking to that cozy theme (could you tell? 😅) These Dearfoams slippers from Target are so comfortable and perfect all winter long.
- Enjoy a glass of wine or make a mocktail. There’s nothing better than finally sitting down to watch a movie with your favorite snacks and a drink! I love these cute candy cane glasses for a mocktail!
- Make sure to grab your favorite snacks or order take out. Eating snacks is one of the best parts of a cozy movie night! My favorite snacks are popcorn, homemade cookies, and a cozy drink.
- Make hot chocolate! Holiday or winter themed movies go hand in hand with hot cocoa! Get the Ghirardelli’s Sweet Ground Chocolate and Cocoa 3 lb tin so you can have hot chocolate all winter long! You can also use this cocoa powder for baking. Last year I found this pearlescent luster snowman mug that makes drinking hot cocoa even more festive! If you’re watching with lots of people, check out this hot cocoa charcuterie board idea!
- Use a projector to make viewing easier. There’s something about the vibe of a projector that’s fun and wholesome. It makes me think about the drive in movies we saw as kids. You could also upgrade your speakers so that you get a movie theater kind of vibe!
- Last but not least, make sure your movie is ready to go. Figure out where you can stream the movie, rent it from a library, or if you already own it. Having everything fully set up and ready means everyone can sit down at the same time.
I hope you enjoy your movie night!
